May I make a suggestion? How about a troubleshooter’s library organized by amp make and model, in which people could post their resolutions of repair problems that they’ve encountered? I spent a number of years in the aircraft engine service industry, and this sort of information is invaluable when troubleshooting obscure and common problems. RCA and Sams had similar publications back when people fixed radios.
Here’s how I envision it. Let’s say we start with make and model, a description of the problem, what things were tried to fix it, and the ultimate resolution of the problem. With enough contribution this could develop into a real useful tool for amp builders and repairers.
I like your suggestion and thank you for such an idea. I too am a long time tech and completely relate to what you have said. In the old days that used to be called a service bulletin. We have a forum dedicated to those who work on thier own gear or are in the service mode. It’s called Do it yourself Amp builders. The description reads“For those building and repairing amps on their own. Learn and share ideas.”
