Hi and yes have been a bit quiet on that front for a couple of reasons, 1 had some health problems which are unresolved and ongoing,2 still trying to get to the bottom of Dudley Carven`s time in Calgary Canada, need to know why he left Marshall as i think that this is a very important point that needs to be covered in the book and researching ways to go about getting a book out there as cheaply as possible as finances are not to good these days.

Because i have not posted for a while does not mean that i am not looking to see if i can help anyone, i look a couple of times a day at least so i am always in the background.

One thing with the book that does bothers me is that it will not be a very large one as my actual time back then would have only been about 8 months but those details are important to be publicised as so far they have not appeared any where at all.

So if anyone reading this in and around Calgary can do any research then let me know.

Hey Ken, I posted a note about this on the Garnet amps yahoo group...some of those guys may have heard of him, if he was servicing amps during his stay in Calgary

When he was in Calgary he had a company called "Crayfield Electronics" which was into digital data recording for road trunking. This would have been around the mid 90`s, any info that any one could find out would be most appreciated.

Thanks for giving me a thought.

Just read through this whole thread and must say, there is a lot of interesting information in here. How is the book going Ken? Oh, and I heard that the deep purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore played early Marshalls, and was part of the "Marshall sound" Is that true?

In the very first days of what we now know as Marshall and let us not forget that the name Marshall did not appear on the very first amp`s there were several local guys in the local scene that came to the Ealing club which was then the main test bed and the true birth place on the JTM45.

I seem to recollect the name Richie being around but we are of course talking about 48 years ago so cannot be to sure if it is Richie Blackmore.

Out of all the guys that were involved at the time in `63 was the late Mitch Mitchell a real nice guy and of course a great drummer.

As for the book it has been rather stationary since before Christmas as i have been exploring options for someone to get involved with publishing it, spondoolicks are not in good shape these days so that is going to be a hurdle that i will have to overcome.

I had this PM the other day and wondered if anyone would like to answer it as it is well past my time.

Thank you with any help with this..2061x question

Ok..so I have a 2061x..and my question is this:
I've heard that Billy Gibbons and Steve Lukather might have used Marshall 3005 12w SS amps as pre amps as part of thier rigs.
I was wondering...If I drop channel number 2 to receive a line level signal...could I use a 3005 (have one of those too) with line level out to use as an A/B amp with A/B switch?
Just curious.
Thanks for any and all help with this.

Ken- On another forum we were enjoying photos of June 19, 1965 Uxbridge Festival

http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/uxbri...-festival.html

and checking out the multiple JTM45 half stacks on stage, as used by Long John Baldry, presumably the Bluesbreakers, possibly the Who although they had AC100s there too, and maybe others. Speculation was that Marshall may have equipped the fest with loaned heads and multiple cabs for the occasion, rather than these all being bands' regular gear. Just thought I'd check to see if you had any recollections or informed comments on that. Many thanks and best regards-

Would love to see that link if you can resend it as i might be able to put some names to the faces.

Let's try http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/

http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/

then go down to the 1960s menu and select the second one, Uxbridge1965-66, hopefully that will work.

Thanks!!
