I can't believe how quickly 6 mnths have passed  +1 for that

Ken could you tell us where this one fits ? claimed to be a '62/3 No cloth on the front of the cab. Unfortunately has had its mains tranformer re-wound
and a replacement O/T running EL-34's. Handle replaced. Has got the large Black Choke.

Well i am sitting feeling rather numb and just looking at the past looking back at me. From what i have seen here it looks just like the ones i used to handle in the garden shed back in Hayes Middlesex UK.

The extra speaker socket is definitely an extra, shame it was not a bit more level with the other one, splitting hairs of course.

What can i say, as near as you can get to an original but of course i am bound to add not `62 but i will bet `63.

I think it has a new/recovered front panel and as per listing a Drake OT.

The PT looks like it was very well done most of the rest is ok. This has the mica bypass cap on the NFB resistor and I do not think a mixer bypass cap.

So many early amps have added output jacks that are wonky!

My favourite period is the white panel, silver logo, clapton knobs era - incontrovertibly 1964.

These early amps are all a little different and with approx 50years in between who knows?
All bleeding stops.......eventually.

The cab appears to have no feet ? It's a difficult one for buyers. As a Collectable it is hit by the fact both Trannies are non Original. Original Leather Handle is gone (dry rot know doubt) , era incorrect handle added. Cloth is missing from the front panel. So you are paying for a circuit board that isn't much different than the later Block Logo JTM-45's and head box , knobs and badge. I also like the Silver / Red Block Logo , White F&R panel , Clapton Knob version. Erics actual JTM-45 having Gold front panel & Drake Trannies , Choke.

Lovely old amp, but hate to think what price Marshall have told the seller it is worth. I see one Dealer sniffing around , trying to get a Buy Now price
from the seller.

No doubt something highly inflated, but Marshall only tend to give values for insurance purposes rather than actual market value, which I'm sure they have absolutely no idea of.

Plus, I've said it before, so I'll just reiterate, it's not really in Marshalls best interest to give honest evaluations anyway, so I don't know why people actually bother sending stuff to them for appraisal, other than the fact there is no such widely known specialists around.

I guess I'm just not quite so interested in the minutae of these at the moment, but I can't helping thinking I might provide a lot more pictures if I was seeling it and looking for that kind of moolaa.

Whats up with the front panel - looks deeply recessed and weird covering, someone loose the RS cloth?

To my mind this would be an RS OPT, but the seller disagrees?

Looks like two bulgin pent roof knobs and 4 odd ones. Input jacks replaced ? what with!?

Tranny rewind 'sounds' good.

But yes I guess these are rarely up for sale now.

How is it that this thread has been around so long and I just found it? Looks like I have some reading to catch up on and I'm looking forward to it!

Ken, you should write and/or collaborate on a book. I know a few that would be interested in it.

Cheers!

Best Wishes Ken  Take it easy. Your memoirs are eagerly awaited , no matter how many pages it runs. They are a very valuable insight for us all into those early days at Marshall and for all who love those Real Marshall amps.
