Speaker baffle dimension

Postby rogera on Thu May 26, 2016 11:02 am

I'm making a clone of a Fender Deluxe Reverb and after finishing the chassis and electronics side of things I'm now working on the cabinet.

The only dimension that I'm having trouble finding is how far back the speaker baffle should be mounted from the front of the side and bottom panels.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks very much for that stratele52

On a different topic do you know if Fender fit a scrim cloth behind the speaker grill cloth in the same way that Vox do?

I don't know about Vox amp , but fender use only a one piece grill clothe.

Donc forget , you need a pieces of wood 1/8 inch thick around the baffle to keep the grill cloth away from speaker.

The dimensions that I've managed to find on the internet for a Deluxe Reverb cabinet are shown on the image below.

Could I ask if anyone can confirm these for me please. (the drawing is not to scale)

I got slightly different numbers off my 1966 BFDR.
Bottom measured (finished dim w/ tolex installed and 100% original) 9 3/8"
Width at the bottom of the angle (control panel) was 8 9/16ths.
Everything else pretty much checked out as you have it.
Good Luck.

Be sure to post pics and sound clips when you're done, we'd love to see/hear it!

I was just about to measure my 68 sfdr but the spidey man beat me to it, lol....
