Dating my 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb

Postby chrislohrcdm on Fri Sep 02, 2016 4:07 am

Hi all,

I just bought a 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb from the original owner and I wanted to see if anyone could tell me what month this beauty was born. The serial number is A 08879. It is in almost new condition and all original except the three prong plug. And it sounds amazing!! Feeling thankful!!

Google ; dating Fender amps
http://www.superiormusic.com/page195.htm

Number say it is a 1965 chassis ;

Deluxe Reverb AA763, AB763 (blackface)
A00100 to A00300 - 1963
A00300 to A03900 - 1964
A03900 to A13000 - 1965
A12000 to A19000 - 1966
A19000 to A24000 - 1967

This do not mean it is a 1965 amp, we need more number;
Write number from all transformers, a 1966 made transformer = 1966 amp

We like amp pictures, some picture from inside the amp to see how is original

Your amp was built about August 1965. The tube chart should have a two digit date code stamp OG, OH or OI. (July, August, or September of 1965)

"1966 made transformer = 1966 amp" This is not necessarily correct. Many '67 and '68 DR's have trannies that were made in 1966.

What I mean is if chassis is made in 1965 and all others parts , transformers, pots ...are 1966 dating, the amp can't be a 1965

Thanks for the info!

There is a stamp on the top of the transformers that starts out with like 606-5. All transformers have the same numbers.

Pics coming.

606= Schumacher Transformers 5= 1965 and 11= the 11th week of the year.
You can ass-u-me that Fender bought parts a few months ahead of time for production, and as stated above, would sometimes run those parts as late as a year later. If the tube chart is intact there will be a stamp with 2 letters. The series starts with "AA= A 1951 and A= January
My May of 1965 Fender was "O (1965) and "E" May.
Good luck and enjoy. A glorious amp indeed. I've had me a few!
