Can anyone tell me the size and shape of the metal plate that covers the hole cutout on the inside of the base of the head cabinet to accomodate the handle on the cab below ? Its missing on my january 62 6g6a.

I had a '61 Tremolux apart today that has the same metal plate over the cutout as the Bassman. Plate measures 8 1/4 x 3 inches.

Thats great info, do you know what the plate is made of and how thick it is ? What sort of screws hold it in ?

I thought it was aluminium.

Aluminum is unlikely. It's probably stiff gauge sheet metal and with a 3" width the ends are most likely a 1.5 inch radius (3" circle).

I don't know your country but Home Depot sell small piece ( 12 X12 ? ) of steel easy to cut with Skill saw.

Zinc plated steel, same thickness and plate as Fender chassis from the period.

Thanks Spoond ! Any ideas on the screws ? Being in the UK everything is harder to get for these old amps.

Old fender amps alway use philps head screws.
In this case you can't see the screw from outside the amp, use any kind but flat head screw to easy slide the chassis.
