1966 Fender Bassman

Any of you dudes own these amps, and enjoy playing them?

I remember when my buddy bought one a few years ago, and he raved about it and the fact that it was so simple...volume, bass, treble.

Now I may have a chance at one, maybe I should check it out.

I have a '67 BF Bassman (AA684 circuit). I'm running JAN GE 5751s in the preamp to keep it more in the typical BF Fender range tonally. I really like it and routinely gig with it. It's very pedal friendly and plays well through different types of speakers (Celestions, older Jensen/Oxford alnicos, etc.).

Good luck!!

Hi everybody

Lawton, if AA864 it can't be a 67, the change occured between 64 and 65. I have a 65, which is AA165, end of 65/66/67 are all AB165.

Best regards.

Max.

Don't forget about the '68s that were AB165 as well. Still bargains to be had on that one.

GRRRR!!! I missed it. Well, I asked for information a few times, and the seller never contacted me. He sold it to somebody else. I never know how to approach sellers. You send them a request for information about tubes, year, etc... and you get ignored. You send them a request for the price, they treat you like gold. I guess you gotta real them in and then ask for more information.

If somebody ignores a reasonable question like that I view it as a sign that I don't want to deal with them. If there's a problem later, how helpful will they be?
