Sound City 50 Plus Power/Standby Switch Problem

Postby ChristComesAlive on Sat Mar 04, 2017 1:59 am

Hello,

My Sound City 50 Plus seems to have an unusual problem. Sometimes when I power the unit on, it doesn't come on. You have to turn it off and then on a couple of times then it comes on. And then once the unit is on, I hit the standby switch and it shuts off power to the entire unit. If I turn the switch off and on, a couple of times, again - it comes back on. I have cleaned both switches with Deoxit. Other than that, I am not too sure where to start. Could it be as simple as replacing the switches, or could it be something more than that? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Does thumping your fist down on to the cab, angry boss style, induce the fault mode?
I suggest to verify that mains circuit of the amp is wired according to the schematic, all connections are good etc, eg maybe the mains voltage selector is dodgy.

If the turrets are pre-wired, check under the turrets. If someone put too much solder, hi goes down under the turret and contact with the chassie.
