Hi guy`s, a little question for all of you, just to satisfy my inquisitive mind.

As you all know on all the original Marshall amps there is a presence control. I was under the impression way back then that this was an edition that Ken Bran added to the design of the first JTM45, his reason was at the time to get round the patent, yes i do know that there was not a patent on the Fender which they copied.

So the question is was there any other make at the time that had that facility or was it a first??

Kind regards

Ken Underwood :?

Sounds like more Ken Bran smooth talk, from the guy that wanted to straight swap my Bluesbreaker for an MV50 back in the 80's. Pretty sure the Bassman 5F6 and later on 5F6a series had Presence (we're talkinh the 50's here) and that it was another direct lift from the Fender schematic.

Yep. No different to the 5F6. Direct lift from the Bassman.

I've heard Ken B claim he changed the amount of negative feedback in the presence circuit and also the order of the controls along the front panel, to appear different from the Bassman, but presence wasn't a new Marshall thing.
