The elusive sound city L50 mark 3 [amp porn]

Postby satamax on Fri Jun 16, 2006 9:10 pm

Hi everybody!

Well, finaly doen xept few quirks, the next one will be better!

How it started.

the chassis back

the guts

and the back

The circuit is a L100 circuit, xept for the master (not rewired yet!)
The front and faceplate have been redone, the back pannel too, my first time with tolex, and transparent printable sheets. Two tesla ECC83/S one brimar E 83/CC and one philips miniwatt ECC81. Plus a XF3 and XF4 mullard pair (matched finaly weird things happen!) Next time i either don't do a master or erase the master volume writing of the original faceplate. I might write mark 3 custom built on the top of the power switches!

Big thanks to Gary who sold this one to me!

Bye.

Max.

Hi Gary!

Well, i have this one http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... RK:MEWN:IT there and the seller isn't too helpfull. He's working at the gatwick airport, and he's willing to drop it within a 25 miles radius. Would you mind hosting the amp before parceltogo can pick it up? I've been struggling with that guy for awhile now!

Thanks.

Max.

great work Max!!!

actually came across the sound city PA yesterday and saw your name :)

I picked up an old Carlsbro top 50 on Saturday, where i have to re-tolex the cab, is it difficult?? someone ripped it off completely.....it needs some serious attention, but only paid £50 :)

I'm almost finished with my SC 50 plus, and will post some pics once done, by the way, how did you get rid of the rust??

Thanks a lot mate!

Well rustwise, dremel with a wire brush and some fine oil. Tolex, i don't know, i just did front and back panel, and having fiddled with tons of things in my life, i'm not the average diyer, so may be my experience wouldn't fit the picture.

Bye.

Postby satamax on Wed Jun 21, 2006 10:49 pm

Hi everybody!

Well, Pat, i was leaving it for you to dig out, but two days later you still haven't posted it, so i'm doing it  I was hopping to to get a whole thread for myself, as you seem good at doing this for some other sellers  Only taking the mick :D
